Automation Seminar
Radiocom,
Inc. was invited
to
participate in the ATS Automation Seminar organized by the International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the Caribbean and South American (CAR/SAM)
States in Lima, Peru, sponsored by the Regional Technical Cooperation Project
RLA/98/003.
As in other ICAO Regions, the Organization has shown that is highly involved in providing assistance to member States through sponsoring of events related to planning and implementing future ATM systems based on the concepts recently endorsed at the 11th ICAO Air Navigation Conference.
The main topic of the seminar was the automation applicable to the provision of air navigation services a matter of paramount importance when developing of interoperable and seamless air navigation environment.
The Seminar was aimed at providing information and facilitating an open exchange of points of views amongst international organizations, the states and the aviation industry in relation to the automation process of air navigation services.
More than 70 participants from
the CAR/SAM aeronautical administrations and the aviation industry has been part
of the seminar. The information that was provided during the Seminar and the conclusions
formulated should serve to encourage implementation of modern technology
for ATM and others air navigation services.
Radiocom Inc. was in charge of presenting technical and operational matters related to the AMHS (ATS Message Handling System) (item 5c of the schedule) and the delegates were able to see and test a model Gateway, ComGate®, that linked an old AFTN terminal with a new AMHS “User Agent” sending messages from one environment to the other.
